Cool idea! An untargettable creature that will die on its own...just that your card is pretty UP. If it had 8 attack or so, that'd be more useful. Also, upping it makes it cost 2 more for only +1|+2? The unupped one is better.
Compare Steel golem.

It costs as much as an unupped hydra and packs more health and the same attack as Elite Hydra and also doesn't commit suicide after three turn. If you want your card to be better, you need to seriously boost its attack.

I kinda think the upped should only be 5 :earth

I also feel like this is a card for :darkness

Other than that, this is a very interesting card. It's kinda weird knowing your card has an expiration date hehe.

on a thematic note. why is it immaterial and why does it die? and how does that relate to hydras?

furball, the upgrade also extends how many turns it has to live. I was thinking about lowering the cost by 2(unupped costs 2, upped costs 4). is that a good idea?

@furballdn
i edited it so it cost less. It is UP now?

@srm359
changed element to darkness, your right.

@darkrobe
I wanted a slowly rotting creature but couldn't really find one so i just used a hydra because its a damn hydra which is pretty invincible, and it has multiple heads so maybe it just loses a head each turn...and it doesnt grow it back because the neck gets torched after it gets sliced off, preventing replacement(hercules style)

This. I mean, REALLY.

"damn hydra which is pretty invincible" Hydras regrow their heads when they are cut off, they are very easily targetted and in fact become stronger the more they are attacked because 2 heads replace every one cut off. Why is it losing a head every turn anyways, it isnt being attacked. And while fire and cold or destroying a head may succeed, neither are being used. ANd hydras in general are water element

I suggest if you want a dark creature that is strong and untargetable but leaves after awhile, make it something like vengeful spirit who enacts his revenge then leaves the field.

EDIT small side note that bothers me, each hydra has an excessive point of health. they can only be damaged by fire buckler which would do 1 damage per turn until they die on their own. Therefore each hydra would have 2 HP left no matter what when they die. My brain just doesnt like it.

If you want a slowly rotting dragon, why isn't it :death? It could be something like "rotting dragon" or "zombie dragon" or "dragon corpse" or anything like that. I don't know if :darkness is the right element for this. 2 quanta for 5|5...eh.....I still feel it could be a bit higher. Probably 6 atk for 2 cost but it dies in 3 turns. And it doesn't have immaterial. Having it be immaterial if it's rotting doesn't really make sense. Even if the elite one lasts two turns longer, I still don't think it's worth it. The unupped is useful since it deals 5 damage for 2 quanta. six damage for four quanta isn't as good. I mean, Upped gargoyle is better than elite hydra imo.

Hydra seems to me more of a :life creature to me
I mean they're huge beasts
Anyways not to flame, but the ability has nothing to do about it being a hydra. I thought it would gain some sort of benefit from dying  ???
I do like the idea of rotting _____ as the name of the card though. Makes more sense.

Hate to be continuing to bash this but...
Correct thematic for a hydra  http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17937.0.html
Mechanic used better  http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,24339.0.html

Basically one way or another this card is already in development

Hmmm. Okay, this fits better thematically. By being one with the magma it would be essentially untargetable or immaterial. but after 3 turns the lava cools and it dies. The community in general doesnt like survivable fire cards but this does make some sense.

Now for actual card balancing, see before statements and following ones.
