Mono Aether generally isn't any sort of problem to play against right now. Its typically "Mono Aether, but with a Mark of X to splash Z card" that is dangerous. For example, Mono Aether, but with a dark mark to splash Steal. Among other things, it auto-wins vs Mono Aether.

... however, my worries about this card and Steal actually grew, while at first I didn't quite like the idea of Fire lance decks splashing aether for a couple of these cards to turn their explosions into extra lances, the idea of someone using steal with this for quick auto-kill in that mono-aether deck would actually be terrible. Or even explosions, although steal would let you keep said permanent. And as I checked, using Steal does let you keep your permanent but I don't know if it counts as a destruction then. Still, explosion does.

Overall, its a good idea, but due to me not feeling good about mono-aether auto-killing with 3 Lightning Barriers and 4 explosions, either make the damage not stack, or what would probably be better, make it stack, but change the text to "deal 10 damage to the owner of the destruction card". The Mono-Aether + explosions might be a good deck archtype, I'm not sure yet, but this would be an easy way to prevent that though.
I'm pretty sure steal would count as destruction for the purposes of this card, but it probably should to make the card worthwhile. Because without it generally the only PC there 'is' rampant all around is explosion. I just wonder how the AI would function with this card.

definitely like the card.  presumably it wouldnt deal damage if it itself is destroyed?  that would give the opponent a way around it if they have the cards to waste, which is good.

But is it intended that Steal says 'destroy'?
It is the greatest mystery of all...

Well, that's how the core mechanism is. I doubt zanz didn't make it on purpose.

i really like the idea for a pc deterrent rather than a flat out counter.

like voodoo doll it could create some interesting combos and situations, my only worry is that the OTK possibilities are through the roof, even with voodoo doll you usually require quite a bit of setup to pull off an OTK, but with this your turrning every permanent you play (including your pillars) into a potential 60 hp voodoo doll, and all it would require is that you to spend a mere 4 :earth and 8 :aether (assuming you use quicksand and the upgraded version of this), 12 quanta! to kill your opponent, granted it would take some setup but 2 quicksand, 2 of these cards and 5 pillars, towers or pends is not at all difficult to pull off.

don't get me wrong like i said i really like this idea but it could potentially be very OP

What about making this a shield?  There's currently no way to play two shields at once, so the stacking issue DarkArk mentions would be removed entirely; and this and Dimensional Shield couldn't be made to work together.

great idea though with the way earthquake/quicksand work could still raise problems it wouldn't be as bad

Yes and no.  It's possible Zanz has coded it so that the destruction of three pillars is regarded as one "destroy" action, and would be treated by this card as 10 damage.  If not, I expect it wouldn't be a problem to just add that as a stipulation.
