Have you not noticed that skull shield is basically instant kill aswell? remember, skull shield kills creature and turns into a skeleton, plus it blocks 1 damage, thats pretty much instant kill imo.
This is completely different, if you also havent noticed, its 50 / HP, so in the beginning attacking creatures have a 0.5% chance of getting killed, meaning you get more

90 = 0.55%
80 = 0.7%
70 = 1.1%
20 = 2%.
If anything, this is Extremely underpowered.
I would say changing to this:
attacking creatures have X multiplied by 2 % chance to die. X = total

quanta, attacking creatures have a 40% chance to die, pretty much close to skull buckler.
Imo, this would go nicely with Flesh recluse + mitosis.
