The first art shows an upgraded card.

Also, it doesn't render Rustlers useless since this only generates 1  :life considering the cost and is probably one usable once per turn.

It's useful mostly because it can be used as a lobotomize for enemy creatures. Only bad part is, it literally makes Rustlers and Leaf dragons useless.

What difference? Yes, the card is intended to be a spell that gives photosynthesis...and also removes previous abilities (akin to liquid shadow).
Update: I did have some trouble when I was first posting the card...maybe you saw an earlier version. Please let me know if there is an inconsistency.

Awesome addition to the Green CC arsenal :P Which is really non existent. I'd change it to completely  :life instead of the upped colorless cost. But solid idea overall.  Bring back the mono green rush to the meta!

The inspiration was (obviously) Rustler and I thought there was balance.  I thought that if photosynthesis was a part of a deck's strategy, the added flexibility was balanced by the fact that rustler relies on just one card instead of two. But both green and white have enough creatures without abilities that I guess there is not much of a downside to replacing Rustlers with it. What if the cost was increased to 3?  I feel that photosynthesis is a cool ability and more could be done with it...
