1. I was going for synergy with fire
2. the idea for the card for me at the very least fits darkness more
3. fire has decent cc darkness does not so this seemed to fit while also providing an interesting idea at the very least.
1) Mono cards have more synergy than duo cards.
2) Each card has 3 parts. Each part must be internally consistent and consistent with the whole.
Ignore the art and name. Do the mechanics fit a Darkness/Fire creature or does it appear like it would make more sense as a Fire creature with a Fire ability. Justify your position.
I see a creature that damages itself to damage another. This is a net loss and is heavily destruction themed.
Fire has a significant Destruction theme. Darkness has a significant theft/manipulation (net zero) theme.
I do not see any thematic connection to Darkness in the mechanics of your creature.
3) Darkness has less CC than Fire but also has a decent amount of CC. Putting a Darkness themed CC in Darkness would make sense but not a Fire themed CC.
