high level creatures? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=21755.msg278713#msg278713
« on: February 26, 2011, 03:24:17 am »
i have noticed the popularity of "advanced spells" and think that something like that for creatures might be nice.

if you have specific ideas pleas share them.
if you think this is a bad idea: vote don't comment

i am thinking of obelisks (huge stone tablets that blast things with energy) but i am not committed.

TU makes grossly expensive but powerful cards impractile for balance.

Strong cards require high cost. High casting cost makes a card slow. Slow cards see less play time as balanced cost increases. Alternative costs like Activation Cost and Absorb(upkeep) Cost would also solve the TU problem by being carried over. However Activation Costs above 4 really don't mean much due to Shard of Readiness. So casting cost 13, activation cost 4 and absorb cost 3 would be the highest cost I would venture. I personally would not suggest anything even half that expensive though.

maybe a more complex "summon" and a passive that makes it inmune to tu or ensures that the needed costs is played again.

tha summon could be using a permanent or spell and some kind of sacrifice from cards creatures or Hp's.

still too complex, but with effort could be done.

edit: yay! 200 post! happy postday to me! (

maby pillar -> obelisks
in shape they are almost the same

maby:
cost 10
active ability cost 5
immortal
strong passive
high-ish damage

;D  immortal stops SOR from being used.   ;D

i think this addresses both OldTrees and az4rel

please give any thoughts you have.

note that voting is on high level creatures at all and not on the the currant idea.

Immortal would solve the SoR problem but also make it resricted to 1-3 elements ( :aether :earth :light)

Also Immateriality is a status as well as an automatic active so it could still have an active ability (although the difference doesn't matter due to no lobo)

To add on to my previous warning:
High level creatures would be a drawback to a powerful ability. Hence the ability should be thought of first before it is even considered to be nerfed as a high cost creature. Until then Dragons fill the role as best as can be expected.
