I think Odii's suggestion would do enough to curb the card away from being overpowered in OTK decks, and make the card still usable in regular decks. I really like the idea, I think it's both thematic and useful. I could see this card being either death or darkness equally.

Im really unhappy about this card. Not, because mechanic (its pretty good imo, but kindly OP. Try changes like everybody said earlier.), but because you used very low resolution of my art. Its hurts my eyes so badly. >.<

I actually didn't even notice the art was low res till you pointed it out just now. The only place its really noticeable is on the sword itself.

... bear in mind that in game, the card itself will be much smaller, so the art update may not make a difference in practice.

I've been thinking myself, it seems Odii's idea of making the quanta gain is best I can find/think of. However I don't know then if I should just keep the current quanta gain and life destroyed.
