This card has no theme. The name just describes the mechanics. It would be like renaming "Fire Bolt" to "Deal Damage".
One other thing that kind of bothers me is that the two versions are so different. I like it when upped version is either stronger or slightly different, but still uses a similar strategy. Here you have two totally different cards. I would break this down to two different cards ideas, from two different elements, like
(hand size fits the growth theme) and
(curse).
Mechanics are pretty interesting and would definitely open up possibilities for some cool decks.
