NOTES:
*If there were more room in the card editor text field I would have said N = number of Warplings and Elite Warplings in play at the end of your turn.
*Warplings and Elite Warplings can be hit by Rain of Dire, Pandemonium and other such non-targeted spells.
*I am more than happy to adjust the costs/ATK|HP/names etc, I just like the concept of summoning creatures from a warp who cannot be directly targeted, so not entirely immortal.
*If I missed the proper format for ball-and-chain cards (Rifts aren't complete without Warplings) I would be happy to redo the post as need be.
*The Rift art was modified from art in the free to use post.

*edit removed series field garbage because that causes rejections these days.

I kinda like it, im just tired of seing so many "N=" instead of like 3/1. Like maybe make the card say 2 :aether to generate a spark.

I think between immortal and burrowed there are already enough untargetable type abilities, so I'd keep things simple and either make it immortal or not.  Having Dimensional Shift as a third type of immortality would require changing the way all the AoE spells work.

Another thought that you might try for the ability:  Warplings / Elite Warplings may only attack when you have a Phase/Dimensional Shield in play.

alright, if the current mechanic would have to change the way AoEs are coded in the game, how about switching the Warplings to immaterial, but adding a chance for them to die or lose their immaterial status if/when a rift is no longer in play, ie destroyed?  i would think this would exclude being stolen, because as long as the rift is in play for either side they have their extra-dimensional link.

so how about this as the update:

You should probably still provide a card art link to the Cosmic Rift | Warp Rift pictures if you want this to get noticed. :P Just saying.

As for the immaterial idea - I partially approve. Fire Shield makes your Warplings laughable, but Fire tends to have the upper hand against Aether cards in my opinion. Also, plastiqe's idea really brought out a new form of game play possibly (and helps support Phase Shield chaining for you to deal damage ;)).

Do you think that you would use this multiple Rifts in a deck to spam as many Warplings onto the field as possible? Just curious.

well rifts are expensive cards (currently 8, could see 10 being reasonable) so i could see people trying to play a few at a time.  the warplings damage relative to their numbers is exponential but that also means that its a slow start up from 0 and 2 respectively to 1+1 and 3+3 respectively ... 2+2+2 and 4+4+4 ... 3+3+3+3 and 5+5+5+5.  a second rift would accelerate the rate, but most likely only after the slow startup period had occurred.

about the phase shield idea, i liked the concept, but i felt it may be too limiting, forcing people to put a shield card in the deck for non-shielding purposes if they wanted the warplings to dish out any damage.  the next question would be what damage would the warplings do? if they can only do damage while the shield is active, they would have to be strong enough to warrant spending the quanta on the shields, the rifts and the warplings, but then it could easily slide into OP if the player is both nearly untouchable with the phase shield and hitting really hard with the warplings with the potential to stay protected by phase shield for a whopping 18 turns (assuming no perm control against the shields)

I like that the minion is dependant on the generator for their abilities, that's a good twist that we don't have in the game yet.

I would change things around so Cosmic Rift said:
While Cosmic Rift is in play, all Warplings are Immortal.
 :aether :aether Generate a Warpling.

Then all you have to put on the Warpling is:
N = number of Warplings in play.

You could even make a series like this.. for example a gravity version where the generator provided the minions with momentum.  And the phase shield thing was just an idea I had while looking at your cards.  It could work without the Rift/Warpling combo though, so if anyone wants to make a standalone creature that can only attack while Phase Shield is active go right ahead.

good call, that would indeed space things out a bit more evenly between the two cards descriptors.  and indeed this could be a nifty series, ill put some thought into it.

here are the updated cards, have not added the art credit or 2  :aether summoning cost yet because thats manually tedious and ill do that before submitting to level 1.  The cost on the card itself was to prevent fractal warplings from being OP should the rift be destroyed.

any other thoughts or suggestions?  it may be a while before i get to submit this to the level 1 due to my blue mage looking like he will have to spend another month in level 1 (down 1 vote atm, doesnt look like itll catch up) before i submit this second aether card of mine.

i was thinking about lowering the cost on the card, i suppose that would be a deturrent to people destroying the rifts, making them choose between letting them mutliply slowly and be immortal or destroy the rift to halt their addition in numbers and removing immortality, but leaving them open to being fractal'd.
