Finial is another name for a Lightning Rod. Chose Gravity as Gravity attracts things. Wanted to get the general idea out. Simply a relatively cheap soft CC/Bolt-counter - an interesting side effect is that a couple of these cause Firestall to have a hard time OTKing. Soft creature protection is a relatively unexplored area, with Cloak, Plate Armor, and High HP being the only in-game means. With the large amount of CC, and the hard existing creature protection of quint, soft creature protection is an interesting mechanic that could be beneficial. SERIES:

I like it.  Wouldn't mind it working with non-damage CC (Rage will bypass this as it is a buff technically, and RT for Gravity's sake), but as is I could see this being a good card for Momentum Scorpion decks, and others that would prefer Gravity in other mechanics.

Momentum scorps will love this. Good idea, I love it when practical real-life things get turned into practical cards!

It possibly could be made such that RP gives the creature +5|+0 and destroys Finial, which opens up some interesting synergies. I guess RT would still have to go through, as it doesn't do any sort of damage and there's a not a whole lot a Lightning Rod could do to defend against time.

Any other feedback? I've heard that dropping the cost by 1 may be a good idea, but I want some more feedback. I still really like this card idea.

Seems neat. 1 attack spell blocked per finial right?
I can't help but think someone might pair this with Dim shields for self-preservation though...

calindu, if im reading it correctly it has no anti-PC aspect whatsoever. it is only ant-cc. it would not protect your dim shield at all, and only protects creattures from damage.

Ah, I need to read properly, though it protects Permanents too >_<

maybe if it blocked 2 spells and raised the cost by 1?
