... *Scratches head*
I don't dislike it, but why does it have to return to the top of your deck? By having even one of these and at least 10 pillars, you win the game by default.

It should really not have that mechanic, and it should drain all quanta when used..But even then it's very similar to miracle.

I kind of like the card, but I agree that it is too close to miracle and will be too powerful as it stands now.

I would actually like to see it in the time element, where it would make very good thematic sense and help build upon time's capabilities for exploiting deck-outs.

You could go with something like: "Records your current hp. This card is shuffled to your deck and your hp restored if you would lose end of next turn."

You could think of it as storing your current state in time and returning you to it if you would otherwise lose before your next turn.

I think it could actually be made as a useful and balanced card if done carefully.

Preventing a single loss condition event can be balanced, even if the card can recycle itself (although completely stopping any chances of loss and recycling indefinitely cannot).

If it restores the owner's hp to the state they when it is cast, then its actually sligthly less powerful than miracle... Adding in the self cycling changes this a bit, but even then it will likely take several uses to match.

Its good in concept, just needs some careful tweaking.

It could work out even if it goes to the top of the deck, although going to bottom or being shuffled in is probably better... but in either case it should only do so in the event that the effect actually goes through.
I.e. for balance sake, it should reward decks that can control their damage output by allowing them to whittle down the opponent to the point where they can finally overwhelm the safeguard.

This is also why its important that the safeguard only be allowed to prevent a finite number of loss conditions in a single turn.

let's explore the possibilities:
prevents from dying from
- flat damage
- SoSac chain
- deckout (which wouldn't happen since it would return to deck)

anyways, with the current mechanic, it's going to be impossible to win against a :light :earth duo. 8 light pillars, a sanct, 2 EAs, and this card over and over and wait for deckout. lol. I don't know what to suggest except to remove the additional effect of putting this card back into the deck altogether

This is why I think it should record the remaining hp and restore that value as a 1 shot deal rather than giving a full hp total or just outright blocking wins altogether.
That way you could still take them out with a 1-2 punch or use many small creatures to whittle them down over several turns.

Ie. big hitter knockes the enemy down and activates the effect, the other creatures then kick in and chew down on the remaining hp.
Now the next time the card is used it will restore fewer hp.

That combo wins the game, yes, but it about the same fashion as any other OTK out there. Just because this card wins you the game does not render it overpowered. The point is to win the game once you viably use it.

So yeah, probably place it on the bottom of the deck, so that you would win by decking the other person out with repeated Failsafe at one card remaining...

Well, at least it serves its purpose.

Kill the "it returns to deck" part... and maybe it's a cool idea.

Also... Failsafe is a bad name.
With the light element in mind, I'm thinking things like: divine, protection, light, angelic, peace treaty (maybe)

this + production of 8 :light a turn (or a good amount of stashed :light) = win in any case (being silence the only (1 turn) countermeasure )
its an interesting concept, but it sould have some kind of drawback to make it harder to re-play
for example: discard a card from your deck, sacrifice 1 creature and 1 pillar
or-
"discard a card from your hand, if you can't, this card has no effect"-- i think this second option also adds the the "failsafe" theme

also, if your hp reaches 0 (or less), you will automatically lose at the beginning of your next turn (unless this makes your hp unable to reach 0)
