Existing Card Reworking Contest entry - Vampire Stiletto / Vampire Dagger https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=2692.msg22102#msg22102
« on: January 31, 2010, 04:25:43 am »
This is my entry for the Existing Card Reworking Contest.

Right now, Vampire Stiletto is simply pathetic. It's basically just a weakened version of Druidic Staff. It's almost completely useless. I am the Master of Darkness, so the first card that I propose a change is the rare weapon for Darkness.

With its new ability, Vampire Stiletto is much more useful. Not many cards can reduce the ATK of opponent creatures. I chose not to give it another life-draining ability, otherwise it'd be too similar to Owl's Eye.
Also, this card can be really nasty combined with Antimatter. Normally, you cannot reduce the ATK of a creature to lower than 0, but with Antimatter, you can reduce it to infinitely low negative numbers.

What do you think?
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

Only thing I have to say is that when you upgrade, the damage done goes up AND the cost to play goes down.  I'd probably just keep just one of them the same.

If this was implemented, I'd use it :)

Nice. Creature control based around reducing offense. I like it.

You mention antimatter in your original post.

So, Sap only works on creatures with a positive offense? Ie. 1/3 or 18/9? Casting Sap on the 1/3 will only make its attack 0 - but if you were to play Antimatter on the 18/9 creature, it would become -18/9 and sap can make that -21/9 and more?

Very interesting idea... It will pretty much ruin decks which rely on growth creatures (bit like antimatter) or a good counter to any deck which relies on medium-hitting creatures, played quickly, with  no quint.

Makes me think that some effects should not be effected by Immortality... (ie. Immortal not able to die, this ability doesnt kill so should work... anyways, thats a post for another day)

Nice idea, 2 thumbs up. Definitely the most pointless rare-weapon card out there.

Hmmm, it's a good card, but the name/image doesn't make sense anymore....

Why? You bite someone with your fangs and sap his power. Or stab with a dagger, for this one. A magical, fangy dagger. With black wings.

No thanks.  I much prefer thinking of over powered cards, and have horrible artistic skills.  I'll mull it over before I do anything like that.

Aww... No +karma or cookiez for such a good suggestion?  :P

Meh, I guess =/

But if I were gonna do it...

:darkness :darkness :darkness :darkness  Target creature is stunned for five turns.  It gets ability vampire.

That is a bit too similar to Liquid Shadow, which belongs to Black Nymph.

Hmm... Is this overpowered when combined with Antimatter? Because you use Sap on a creature with an already negative ATK and get healed for 3 HP, then the creature attacks you and you get healed AGAIN; the cycle repeats the next turn, with even more healing...
Yeah, Antimatter breaks a lot of aspects of the game.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.
