Yeah, Icybraker... Shame about 7 people got here before I did hehe!

Really nice idea - a good re-working of the before-posted 'returning damage shield' I think YoYoBro submitted.

Despite the obvious: Sparks die on the turn they are created, therefore opening mass abuse of on-death abilities such as Scavenger, Graveyard and Bonewall... I just want to go over the fact that the concept is great :). I really like it.

So despite the obvious overlooked synergies, this is a great card. Maybe bring the 'chance to create' a Spark down to say 25% normal and 30% upgraded? Or anything less than 50%... This still makes me think of that thread regarding the uniformity of randomosity or whatever it was called (that, the fact that something is entirely random creates the illusion of there being streaks of win/loss and that you cannot truly predict it...)... Anyways, 50% seems okay to me, it would have to be tested in game though.

You get my vote :) - unless Zanzarino is a shield card...

For the record, I think this card is a great idea, and not just because I can cope with its effect.  It gives a new mechanic to this game.

20% would probably be best... 25% at the most.

Good idea, but don't sparks die when the turn ends, I mean when your opponent's turn ends, meaning they never get to attack?

If there was ever a shield that deserved to have immortality, this would be it. Seeing as it's a shield made of pure energy, I can see is being immune to being stolen or exploded. Now back to the topic at hand...I think that the 20-25 range would be ideal.

I'd get rid of the percentages and instead add a minimum damage cap needed to trigger the effect, but it'd be a surefire by then.

5 damage, 4 on upgrade?

Interesting.

If BobCamels suggestion were implemented, the card would definitely appeal to more people - eg. Scaredgirl and others have mentioned to me that they want card ideas to steer away from 'random' or 'luck based' effects. Ie. Fog, Dusk Mantle etc...

xdude raises a valuable point. This card might not actually work. Sparks do die on the turn in which your opponent hits spacebar. So, if he attacks you with 30 creatures, you get 12 sparks then he ends his turn. Bye bye sparks. Your turn starts with no sparks.

The effect would have to be delayed in some way (not sure whether this is possible), but a variable would have to acts like so:
IncomingAttack: if over 4 damage then
SparksToBeCreated = SparksToBeCreated+1

On the start of your turn you get x sparks (from how many attacks you took dealing 4 or more damage). And the variable will reset itself to 0.

Well, this would certainly make aether a whole lot more popular.  Would these be stackable like graveyards?

i found a problem with this card. sparks have 3/0 correct? which means, after all of your opponents attacks are finished, they'll all die, THEN your turn starts. pointless card if my logic is correct

Why pointless? Play Vultures along and they get something like Growth, just better.

Totally spaced out on this being a shield.  Again.  My apologies.  Unless you could somehow animate shields.....but that's a totally different subject.
