This card was made for life to tie in with emerald shields. Light is another possibility, but I didn’t think that element really needed yet another creature buffing effect.

Giving life a little CC protection for its more valuable creatures seems like something that the element could benefit from.

The protection extends to both mass CC and direct target spell damage effects.

For each point of damage the the buffed creature would take, a random enemy is selected to receive the damage instead. E.g. the 3 damage from a Rain Of Fire spell could end up dealing 1 damage to 3 enemy creatures or 2 damage to one creature and 1 damage to a different one, or 3 damage to a single enemy creature.

If there are no enemies available, the damage is simply negated.

Poison, shields, and physical damage (e.g. attack damage due to gravity pull) will not be affected.

Does not prevent other dangerous spell effects (such as RT or AM) nor will it stop freeze-shockwave auto-death.

That seems to depend on who you ask...

This card is definitely weakened a bit if it does not protect against snipe since that is a very common and well liked CC ability.

Personally, I think snipe should be counted as spell damage since its kind of a magic like ability, but there are some players / forum goers who think it should be physical.

Its probably not a real major issue though, so I guess it can just be one of those things that does or does not count depending on whether the effect needs a little power boost or not.

@treldon: Lobo is not spell damage, therefore I assume it would have the normal effects.

Good point, didn't think on that a lot... There are few creature protection effects to go from other than SoFr and Quint, so its a little tricky to gauge the impact of this effect.
I remember seeing Zanz mention somewhere that he tends to start cards out with a high amount of power and then nerf and buff iteratively till balanced. By that scheme, it would be good to start this as a non-loboable effect and then make it loboable if it seems too powerful.

In either case, the effect should be handled like either adrenaline (not loboable) or momentum (loboable) status. I.e. this effect will not replace or interfere with any other existing abilities, traits, etc.

Now, when this is mitosis-ed, does this effect carry over to the other creature or not? I don't think there's any effects that do, but if this one did, it would make for a pretty strong combo with mono-life decks such as Mitofrogs or Mitoscorpions, etc. Oooh,  :life/ :time neurotoxin power with spell protection. Is that OP? Something to consider.

zanz: I tend to follow a 'W'-shaped curve, the initial idea is often a little overpowered so that we can test how useful the card can be, but it will probably be “nerfed” before release because it is much easier to “buff” a card later rather than “nerfing” it later.

Fractal is a good example of a card that was not nerfed enough before release and now touching it means having frustrated players that leave their gold fish sitting in front of a sushi special on food network just to get some type of revenge. We cannot do that, PETA might be disappointed.
