Don't forget you need the quanta for each play, thats another reason I strayed from the secondary "double cast" idea.
That would give you two spells at the cost of one.
does good pillar production mean anything to you?
does wasting one random quanta necessarily have such a huge affect on your production? i dont think so.
especially if you use duo or trio deck, and with up pillars you can first play double spell then put the pillar to get the quantum you need while be sure there is no waste.
i love tricky decks, its always better to play deck which need little more reflexion.

Scary... Now Dimensional Shield can be played 12 times which means the opponent can't attack for 36 turns...  :-X

This costs 1 :aether+1card to create a specific card.
For a card that costs Y quanta to cast the total cost is 2Y+ :aether quanta +2cards.
This means it obviously costs more than 2 of the chosen card.
However the flexibility needs to be paid for. 1 :aether is too low a cost for the added flexibility. Perhaps 3 :aether|2 :aether?

Two alternative names for this card I thought might work: "Doublecast" and "Channeling."  The first, naturally, comes from Final Fantasy; the second comes from my Neverwinter Nights days.  On my server, a sorcerer could choose to expend 2-4 charges of a given spell instead of only 1, in exchange for more spell penetration and difficulty class on the spell.  "Clearcasting" is also good, but probably too evocative of World of Warcraft for some people.

Good card concept, I think it's been done before but not quite this way.  In other news, WHY do I keep seeing card ideas that inspire me to create something that would be close enough to the original as to be offensive and intrusive??

Kaos.

I like, but it reminds me a bit this one in the crucible: Echo | Echo (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,21641.0.html). :P

Bringing back this half dead idea. The issue seems to be the cost, and I desperately want to see anotehr card with use across the board.
cost perhaps
2 :aether | 3(Random)

I agree on the "too similar to Echo" feedback. Also, Air seems to benefit a lot more from a new card and mechanic than Aether, which already has fractal and mindgate for card generation...
