This card has to be dirty cheap to be valuable in the deck.
Sacrificing a creature you have to pay quanta for, that deals damage every turn, AND takes a card slot, is not a small price to pay in the first place. IMNSHO of course.
I would definitely lower the quanta cost on it.

Alright how is this then:

Card Update:

Change 1: Reduced card costs by 3 :death.
Reason: Balancing and encourage use.

Change 2: Reduced damage bonus of upgraded card by 3.
Reason: Balance.

Change 3: Reworded card.
Reason: Hopefully make it clearer just what the card does.

The idea would be to encourage use of both the un and upgraded cards. If you are using Death quanta to any degree, then the unupgraded card might be to your advantage since it has the damage bonus for only 1 :death more than the upgraded card. On the other hand if you want to use the card in a deck with a non-death focus, then the upgraded card would be more useful since it is free, though less powerful.

Opinions?
