Mourning for Icarus, by Draper Herbert James

traceurling and stereohelix
NOTES:
Since light and darkness are the antithesis of eachother, I wanted a counterpart to Archangel, so with some inspiration from Holy Flash and help from stereohelix this is what resulted...balance is helpful of course, as well as maybe name change?

'loses -1|-2' doesn't make sense.

On the other hand, it seems to be a good idea.

Interesting... You can buff your creatures or hurt the opponent's. Might be slightly overpowered due to extreme versatility.

'loses -1|-2' doesn't make sense.

... to clarify: If you 'lose -1/-2', you gain +1/+2.*

*
Spoiler for Hidden:
Nit picking protection: It might also mean +0/+0, when 'losing' requires a previous debuff.

What would be a good way to word it? "gets"? Also balance suggestions?

Okay, to start with, I LOVE the idea! I agree that this would be a good counterpart to angel and archangel. I feel that the ability is a bit OP. The angel can only heal creatures up to 5 HP, which although very useful in the right situation, is very situational in that very few decks are built around having angels in play to heal severe damage. This card not only lowers HP, but also attack, and gives a buff to death and darkness creatures, which is an ability versatile enough to build a deck around. Perhaps if the ability cost 2 :darkness it would be more reasonable, since the damage dealt to opposing creatures (non-death and non-darkness) is not able to be healed at all and due to the weakening, and also for the buff to death or darkness creatures. To justify the cost of 2 :darkness, think of this situation:
-Blessing costs 3 :light and gives target creature +3/+3
-Corrupt (this card's ability) costs 2 :darkness (in this scenario) and gives target Dark creature (which would probably be an ally pre-selected to be in this deck partly because of the ability of Fallen Angel) +2/+1, +4/+2 over 2 uses.
You also have the fact that darkness has the vampires in its artillery, which, when combined with this card's buffing effects, could potentially deal massive damage and heal you very much every single turn. A fairly common combination in current use is the Blessings/Vampire deck, which uses two elements, and is therefore much more balanced than the massive buffing and vampire power that an all-darkness deck with this card in its line-up alongside vampires would be. All in all, I think that the raise in ability cost to 2 :darkness would be beneficial balancing-wise, but I'm not sure that even a raise in cost would balance out this card. Once again, I love the idea, but I do think that it needs some balancing to be a really great card. Keep up the good work!

Why does the upped cost more yet its the same thing? Both the upped and un-upped cost too much. I would have it cost 4/3, unless what you are saying is the target gains -1,-2 every turn but i don't think you are.

The upped costs more because its attack is higher. Compare Mind Flayer|Ulitharid or Guardian Angel|Archangel.

The ability reminds me the ability of a lava golem. Think as the card grows itself, but instead of needing dual quanta :fire and :earth, it needs just a mono quanta source, :darkness. Maybe, but just maybe!, you should make the ability's cost other than the cards cost. (oh, and by the way, look at all the growing creatures, they all start off by having 3 hp or less. stick to this rule plz)

EDIT: I forgot Graviton Firemaster, but yes, it is also a dual quanta creature. So you should really change either the mono state of the card, or its HP, or both. Yeah, maybe both, because it can be used on other creatures too.

Even with the higher attack, I would make both upped and unupped cost 4.

Also, this feels really similar to the way angel cards work from MTG in their Avacyn Restored series. That being said, I like it. Angel cards are awesome.

P.S. I'm an artist and I can remake the card art if you ever would like me to.  :) if you want to see my art, go to Brawl Round 2. im the artist for  :time Team Expensive Clocks.
