For raw power on a single creature, yes they definitely are.
But you can power 6 scorpions, or six sparks with just one of these.

If it seems a little underpowered, I can boost it to +2|+2 for 1 :life instead, but that seemed a little too powerful to me. Then again, I tend to lowball things reflexively so maybe its okay. What do you think?
