the Common Coqui (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Coqu%C3%AD) is a frog native to puerto rico. It is named for the sound (http://www.salonhogar.com/ciencias/animales/coqui/sound/ecoqui.au) it makes at night.

The idea is that its mating call can serve a dual purpose. break silences (and any other sound based cards that get developed). and call a Coqui Mate.

The chance to generate a Mate is based on the health of the Coqui. it is 10X % chance. where X is the Health.

a Coqui with 1 health has a 10% chance to generate a mate. a Coqui with 6 health has a 60% chance to generate a mate. >=10 health means 100% chance. you cannot generate more than one mate with each call.

Territorial is a new status I thought up. It means the following: Only 1 Coqui (upgraded or not) can exist on the field at any one time. If 2 Coquis are present on the field at the end of a turn. The Coqui with the smallest health will leave and the one with the largest health will remain.

I like most of this, but I think the ability should cost :air

after all, it's sound, :aether doesn't quite fit imo

possibly. The reason I have it as  :aether is because currently the only sound based skill that I know of is Silence and Silence is :aether. Im open to suggestions for the most fitting element for sound based skills.

I don't think silence is exactly related to sound, I think it's more like a silence from like warcraft, which prevents spells, in EtG, it prevents cards played

:aether doesn't really relate to sound at all, the element that relates the most to sound is :air (shockwave)

But the reason "silence" prevents spells is that in many magic traditions, Magic spells required a vocal component. Think harry potter or some similar magic story. Words are said a certain way to activate the spell. That is why the removal of sound prevents magic spells from being cast.

Shockwaves may cause a sound. and sound travels through the air. So I think its a good contender. Im just not sure because there arent any sound based spells currently in game. Shockwave in my mind refers to the force, not the sound. and silence is a lack of sound, not sound itself.

they want to be close to the male. might also allow some interesting combos with things like nightmare. makes you want to maybe protect your male. or parallel univese and buff an opposing male.

What happen if both Coqui has same HP?
Three possibilities:

1. nothing happens until one is buffed or loses hp. stalemate basically.
2. Neither leaves but half of the females go to one and half to the other.
3. The most recently summoned one leaves. but takes half the females with him.

Currently it does not have an upgrade. based on the fact that the Coqui and upgraded Coqui are only different in the amount of health, and thus in chance of summoning a female. I didnt really see a need to have an upgrade version. I would consider changing the stats and costs though.

Aether seems alright to me.  Aether has twin universe and mindgate, which copy things, and mating is, well... about life and copying things.

Imagine a card with the theme of music. Tell me that the concept of sound still fits under :aether.

Sound, at least imo, is and will always belong to :air.

1. Non-verbal spellcasting can be done in the Harry Potter canon, but it takes more discipline to do.
2. :air is more sound-based, due to Shockwave and Thunderstorm (note that :aether has Lightning, which is the visual part -- :air would probably take the thunder portion).

Lol. Sorry. I thought i had set the poll so that people could change their votes. maybe I hadnt. Ill keep in mind that you meant to vote life.

Its an interesting dicussion. Air seems to be winning out in the poll at the moment.
