quicksand is not anti-rainbow, its anti elemental. were trying to think of cards that give a mono deck an advantage over rainbow deck. or at least, thats what i understand this thread to be about
Quicksand is indeed anti-rainbow. The reason is that some single colors can drop a few towers and drop a few critters and be well on its way (EG Light with photons, dark with devourers, fire with ash eaters). Rainbow needs far more elements at all the right times. If you take out the quantum towers, rainbow is in far more trouble.
This is only true for rainbow with Time mark. Entropy rainbow almost always has the quanta for supernova, rendering QS a near-negligible card. As for Seism being evidence of QS wrecking rainbow without PA, I have a rainbow deck without PA and without Anubis that wins just about every time against him. It's mainly in how you play your cards that determines how difficult he is.
Even with 6 supernovas, you have:
12 light quantums (that's only enough to draw cards with your sundials and no more, so forget about miracle)
12 life mana (4 fireflies+4 mutations, 4 mutations+2 feral bonds, etc...)
12 gravity mana (one otyugh+eight devours, two otyughs+4 devours, and then there's reverse time)
12 fire mana (not even enough for three firestorms assuming upgraded, otherwise not enough for even two)
12 wind mana (firefly queen+play eagle eye but unable to use it)
12 time mana (enough to play 6 sundials and an eternity but not use it)
Etc...
And this assuming you even draw all six of them before Seism pounds you into the ground with shriekers and basalt dragons.
Oh, and of course, his reverse time can screw you over quite easily.
But if you need a devoted anti-rainbow card:
Prism strike:
4 entropy.
Drains up to 2 quantum from every quantum target player controls, and deals an equivalent amount of damage to him.
So a rainbow player would take 24 to the face from this. If you have the ability to even so much as hit him for four damage, get four in your hand and it's an autowin.
