This somewhat exploded while i was working on powerpoints. lol

not excited about rice
clearly not asian

Or hispanic

Here's an idea: give it a passive ability such that each turn it drains :water and spawns a new plant. If you can't pay the :water, it won't spawn anything.

This means that it will quickly spawn new plants, but if you let too many grow it will completely drain your :water quanta. You can counter this by feeding it to your creatures and keeping the number of plants in check.
This I like. I can keep it life this way. because the card would operate similarly to flooding (in that it would drain water each turn) without the restriction on use. and it has a built in restriction (aka it only grows as fast as you can generate water quanta).

I mean we have all kinds of Dragons running around, Rains of Fire, Lightnings and Rice?
Im still lol-ing at this reaction.  :)) The name was meant to get the idea across of what im trying to do. I think it does need a bit of work now.

Any suggestions on a name? The only mythical plant im aware of at the moment is mandrake and that is not a good fit.

I don't like the  :water :water upkeep. At least not for the upped.

Its not upkeep so much as...forced quanta trade for more bulrushes. they wont die if there is no water quanta. you can play them in a completely mono deck +mitosis.

But to your point, i could lower the cost for the upgraded. just  1 :water maybe?

The way it is now, is fine.  But the sad thing is, this is not really a viable card to use.  It is too slow for what it does.  The upkeep should be only 1 for both upgraded and unupped, and the defense of the upgraded should increase a bit.  But still, too slow, it is no threat to your opponent, and you could have put a mitosis in your deck instead.

Could you comment on balance for this card  Bulrush | Giant Bulrush (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,34463.0.html). Im  interested in the consumption of  :water quanta.

Please note that the card does not require  :water to stay on the field. the mechanic just forces you to pay for more bulrushes if you have available :water quanta.
In mono it costs [4] 2 :life + 1 card + 1 turn to give a +1|+1 to a target creature (with Airborne, Dive, Vampire, Deadly Toxin or Neurotoxin).
In duo it costs [4] 2 :water + 0 cards + 1 turn + Duo to give a +1|+1 to a target creature (with Airborne, Dive, Vampire, Deadly Toxin or Neurotoxin).

The cost is similar to Blessing. However one should note that the duo version has an unlimited supply (The mono version will almost never be used) and the duo version heals massive amounts of hp per turn with Feral Bond. I would guess that the cost is about right but I am not very confident in my ability to correctly estimate the effect of the 'absorb' on the balance.

Being forced to pay for more bullrushes does not have a major effect other than adding a mechanic that is potentially confusingly similar to but is not absorb.
This was oldtrees take on it. Asked him to comment on his ask the idea guru thread

Ive been sleeping on it. And I have come up with this variant. It is more expansive, and more playable. and can serve multiple purposes.

You can Compare it to devourer. Basically these Loti (i think that is the plural), sit in your (and your opponents) quanta "pools" and drain quanta per turn to produce more loti. Which you can then consume to turn into attack. Consume = +1|+1 to target creature.  Devourers absorb quanta and turn it into darkness quanta. Loti drain quanta and turn it into attack.

I have it drain from both players because these dont have intelegence like devourers, they are just floating plants. But you have the advantage over your opponent because quanta production happens after attack. So you have the chance to use the quanta you produced last turn, while your opponent will have his quanta drained between his quanta production at the end of his last turn and the start of his current turn. Santuary would mean that all the quanta gets drained from you instead of from your opponent. etc.

Comments? thoughts? suggestions?

Is this different enough to start a new thread? or should i change Bulrush to this.
