New Anti-Deck Out Card/Ability https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=1766.msg15468#msg15468

Currently we only have two cards that can keep one from decking out, eternity and reverse time. Due to the recent changes, these methods aren't as affective. So I think we need a new card and/or ability that allows us to not deck out.

I think this card should be a weak creature which is easily killed. This way it can be countered as long as the opponent has a way to counter it and the user hasn't immortalized it. The important part is the ability. It would be cheap, perhaps two quanta instead of the expensive three used by eternity. What it does is create a new card at the top of your deck. This card is a 0/0 creature, specifically meant to keep yourself from decking out.

Another method would be to make a card (like an alchemy card) that gives this ability to a creature you possess. The card would be expensive since I think the ability should be cheap, and the quanta required to cast would depend on the creatures type, similar to mutations.

Lastly, this ability could be accessed through mutation, so a person could get lucky and get it on the off chance they would deck out otherwise.

It doesn't make much of a difference what the ability is called... probably something having to do with the 0/0 creature created.

0/0? Would that exist at all?

I'd rather Spark generator.

How about a card that prevents your card draw completely?

Lifesaver: 0/0 (0 Time)
Timeless: When Lifesaver dies, it is sent to the top of your deck instead.

Sudden spontaneous randomness:
@Bobcamel, about your Immortal VS Ethereal problem:
Ethereal = cannot be targeted; Aether sign.
Immortal = rewinded when killed; can be lobo'd; Time sign.
How about this?
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

Ya Jmizzle, that's another possibility. Whatever gets the job done is fine by me. And the Lifesaver idea is a little overpowered, since it prevents all deck outs. There should be a way to counter it. And sparks are possible, I figured people would be more open to the idea if it didn't create creatures that attack. It would be easier to create a spark generator though, since sparks already exist in the game.

How about a card that prevents your card draw completely?
We can't replay spells, so at most you'd be able to do this only 6 times.

Making it a spell just doesn't make sense anyway. I had in mind a permanent that reads "While [card name] is in play, you do not draw any cards at the beginning of your turn."

It was kind of obvious it'd be a permanent. Also, good idea.

Ah, ok.  I thought you meant a spell that did it for some reason.  Would that permanent say then have this is a passive effect, and then the ability to discard itself as its triggerable effect?  Sundial has a passive and active effect as well, so I think the code for it is there.

Coding multiple abilities... I don't know, but sounds easy.

As long as there's no more than one active ability, the only limit should be getting the description to fit on the card.

Agreed

Especially when we release many of little abilities like immunity to poison or freezing or stuff, we'll want those passives to stack.
