Really, if it's that overpowered, I'll increase the ability cost to 4 :darkness and upgraded 3 :darkness.
i don't think it's OP at all. i think it's quite powerful, but so is pulverizer. plus i would love to see an eclipse nuked with a board full of shades. like pulling the rug out from under them, it would make me laugh out loud.  :D

Now that you mention it, Pulverizer's upgrade reduces the ability cost from 3 :gravity to 1 :gravity. That is a bit overpowered. Soul Eater isn't that OP in comparison.

And Shades would make Otyugh and Mutation fodder. And a deck centered around Soul Eater will be DEAD when going against an Antimatter deck.

Same. I may not go so far as to say it's OP yet. I was just saying that targeting your own pests isn't as strong as targeting your opponent's creatures.

It's better now, but not quite.  Right now it does two things though besides damage:power reduction and shade generation.  Three if you count the shade's vampire ability.  Most weapons do only one thing besides damage.  Let's assume you have Nightfall out, since that is the obvious synergy.  Each turn you
1) Do 5 damage
2) reduce a creature's attack by THREE.
3) Generate a 4/1 creature.
4) Heal 4 damage (vampire)

This is a bit much when put all together.  The power reduction ability is on par with sniper, as it can take over half of the creatures out of the offensive picture in one shot, and most of the rest in two.  And short of rewind, there is no way to heal power loss.  In addition, it generates creatures about on par with fireflies which heal you.

So basically you have a vampire firefly queen with a (sorta) sniper ability that does good damage as well.  I would only keep two of these, and either remove the others or nerf them to oblivion.  Personally, I would have it do low (2) damage, drain 1 or 2 attack, and generate a non-vampire shade.

I don't get it,

The difference in dealing three damage and draining three attack isn't really all that huge, the card still is ridiculous and it's still OP. It's true, Pulverize is a really powerful card, but destroying permanents is not on par with creature control + generating an army + damage + healing.

Of course this weapon is going to become part of an animate weapon deck, then we'll be looking at 3-4 shades generated a turn, and in the meantime, every creature your opponent plays is turned into dead weight almost immediately.

That doesn't sound OP?

The difference between draining three HP and three attack is that HP can be healed back or buffed with cards like Holy Flash, Guardian Angel, and Plate Armour.  There is no current way to restore attack.

If you want the shade generating ability as its primary focus, then you'd have to sacrifice weapon damage, attack drain, or vampire ability.  Preferably two of those.  Increasing the cost is just a bandaid, as cost is just a hurdle to cross.  Once up and running, the weapon would still be stupidly powerful.  As I said, I'd nix the vampire ability of the shades and nerf the weapon damage.  You can keep the attack drain (although again, I'd suggest toning it down to two or one) and shade generation.  Maybe reduce shades down to 2/0, but that's just a maybe.
