I think it has more use than wings, and since those uses* are solid, so to say, I think it is better.

Some uses:
- support Dive ability
- bump low hp of airborne creatures (dragons don't need it so much though).
- stackable boost supports SoFre as well.

As for Aviary + Wings, I think it's powerful, but not quite abusing.

How would it stop your own? Either you are not using airborne creatures or you are doing an OTK with skyblitz. Like sundial, people do not use it with the drawback.

My question about comparing this to wings is that this is permanent while Wings is temporary. I am wondering if the variety of creatures Aviary stops is low enough relative to the variety Wings stops to justify this difference.

Good point about the Aviary + Wings combo. The combo is less quanta intensive (than Dim Shield) and equal/less card intensive after turn 7/13. However it requires a second element to provide grounded creatures (Phase Spiders? Earth?) and those creatures have less CC protection.
