I don't exactly see how this buffs the Immortal itself if that is what you meant by "need more love"

But this card is under-priced I think.  Give this to a RoL and its like a blessing that also gives you a quint

I didn't mean the buff, I just personally think the Immortals need more love since it seems Phase Dragon and Flesh Recluse fill up their roles half the time.

Well, it has to be somehwhat cheaper than Immortal itself, similar to Mutation and Abomination.  Does a cost of 4  :aether sound good?

Maybe 3, but not 4. Remember, you are also paying the price of a creature on the field and another card in deck.

Change cost to 3 :aether and change it to:
Target creature becomes an infected Immortal.
I think that would better follow the traditional view of asceticism along with making it fairly balanced.
