The Turritopsis Nutricula, AKA "The Immortal Jellyfish", is the only living creature that can regenerate its entire body by reverting back to a sexually immature state by a process called transdifferentiation - becoming a polyp again and being capable of budding once more.

An interesting idea and although I am glad you didn't make another midrange attacker like everyone does, I think I am missing the use of the card. Does the polyp multiply itself? the wording is a little hazy.

If it does spawn new creatures it could have a use with SoP but seems like a very slow process.

I wonder if polyp could spawn a new jelleyfish after each success full attack. allowing a faster spread rate but needing a buff to begin.

The Polyp creates a Jellyfish and turns in to a Jellyfish itself.  So, essentially, you're getting 12 damage (unupped) for 6 :water and 6  :life.  Unupped, you're probably looking at using it for fodder for Scarabs, Immolation, etc.  Upped, you can fill the field with them, and they can grow at an exponential rate.

I did originally think of having them both be Immortal Jellyfish and just having the Upped version have better stats, but thought I'd see what people thought of the Upped version gaining an ability the Unupped doesn't have.

I did wonder whether it was too slow for the stats I've given them.  Perhaps I should buff the Jellyfishes to Firefly type levels?

I like the concept polyp->jellyfish->polyp, but seems really to similar to Tadpole | Elite Tapdole (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,19717.0.html)

You could think to another side effect instead

Seems a bit weak doesn't it? Especially unupped.

I'd not seen that card, but I don't think it's too similar.  Particularly if I give both unupped and upped Transdifferentiation.

One thing I had thought of was that if a Jellyfish was injured or poisoned but not killed, that it'd revert back to a Polyp automatically with all effects removed.  A little like a Phoenix/Ash mechanic.  I could implement that, but I'm not sure how I could fit all the text on the card.  Or would I have to if it's a passive ability?

The other option is to give them poison, but  :water already has loads of poisonous creatures.

Perhaps it does need a buff.  I originally thought to have them weak because Turritopsis Nutricula is only about 4.5 cm long in real life.  I'm also aware that most card ideas posted in this section are mid or high attackers with abilities, and I'm a little wary of trying to make something too big.  Perhaps I've erred too much in the other direction.

I have thought about buffing it to Firefly levels of attack and defence, but then I'm also aware that Firefly costs 3 :air to play and I think this should be a cheap card.  But, then, does the fact that you have to play 2 different quanta of 2 different elements plus wait a turn to get 2 Jellyfish offset the cost difference?

I'd welcome any thoughts on the matter.

Well, perhaps at least make the unupped jellyfish also have the trans-whatayacallit skill. And maybe even giving jellyfish +1atk would be really good. That'd allow for SoP and feral bond combos to be better.
