A little background information for the theme: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argent

The effect stacks additively and is accumulated from both the upped and unupped stacks, so with 6 in play your shield gets has 60% chance to block damage that is about to get applied to an ally creature.

Since most damage to creatures is typically spell damage, the extension of the shield effects seemed necessary to make this card useful.

It was also important to make sure mirror shields wouldn't become OP.

This effect will not allow your shield to prevent damage dealt when a creature hits the opponents shield, but it will intercept gravity pull damage.

Balance thought:

Argent Insignia
3|2 :rainbow
Requires a shield
Protection: ~0.2 damage (average)

SoFree:
2|1 :air
Protects :air only
Protection: ~1 damage (average)
Also gives a damage buff

I think your idea might be underpowered. Maybe consider increasing it to 20-25%?

Hrm...I tried to make art for an idea like this once...

But anyhow, as far as the powers go...

Something that might bloat/split the idea into a series:
Version that applies DR of shield to all creature you control.
Version that applies a chance of shield abilities to all creatures you control. (50%, maybe?)
Version that does both, but not as well (more expensive than the DR version, and abilities version, and applies shield abilities less often(25%?))

Awesome! It works perfectly. Just had to crop and colorize it a little.

Updated the post with the new art now.

Having experience playing with and against SoFr decks, I think 25% may be a bit too much... But 10% might indeed be to low.

I think 17% would work well. That way with a full stack of 6 it caps out at ~100% like it should.

Does this seem good enough or would it still be to low?

It should be noted that if it goes too high too fast, some shields (like hope) will create OP combos.

I'm intentionally trying to keep it slightly less powerful than SoFr so that it is subtle enough to remain as a type "Other" card.

I recently posted a topic with a similar critique of SoFree: Expanding Evasion Mechanics

Anything with 100% defense is going to be OP if it has any significant place in the game. The same potentially applies to your card, which is -- I'm guessing -- why you made it <17% to begin with. However your card has the "advantage" that removing the shield makes the whole stack useless, as well as the potential for it to be UP for 1-point or lower shields.

Possible solution:

Chance to protect allies is 10% + 24%/R, where R is the damage reduction of the shield.
Dimensional Shield, Bone Wall, Wings, Dusk, and Fog all count as R=infinity.

Chance per Insignia:
Infinite: 10% + 0% = 10% (6 stacks is 60%)
(3-point) = 10% + 8% = 18% (6 stacks is 100%)
(2-point) = 10% +12% = 22% (5 stacks is 100%)
(1-point) = 10% +24% = 34% (3 stacks is 100%)

However this still offers only ~.3 - .5 reduction per Insignia, so I would probably make the cost 2|1 :rainbow

This seems pretty reasonable to me. I'll see if I can fit it in an intelligible manner onto the card and repost if so.

Would 0 point reduction shields (mirror, fire, thorn, procrastination) count as 1 point for that formula? What about dissipation?

0 point shields could get set to always absorb 1. That would help keep the interaction at least somewhat useful.

Dissipation shield is intersting. It would end up absorbing all damage into entropy or random quanta. So essentially, the value used would be equal to the amount of damage about to be done. The same could go for dim. shield ... I think a similar analogy could be used for shields like fog and dusk only the amount dealt would be multiplied by .4 or .5 respectively.
