It would be pretty sweet if the shadow card had similar artwork to the Nightmare creatures found in GW!

That shadow card seems sorta like a downgraded version of the growing creatures, like Forest Spirit, Lava Golem, and Fire Spirit. To be useful as an attacker, it needs to take damage, so I think it'd be harder to grow aside from infecting it. Also, would it gain +1/+0 for EACH POINT of damage, or just when it takes damage?

That is a fabulous idea, I was wracking my brain on how to photoshop on image of a shadow choking a guy, but GW nightmares would also work.

I was thinking each time, but your right, it would end up being significantly lower attack than the equivalents.  There are a few options to balance this out (+2/+0, making it per point of damage, and various other things), but its really hard to predict without playtesting.

I would think more of a "shadow" as a creature with a special ability more like a type of freeze-

Shadow
1 dark
1/3
2 dark: immobilize target creature. Neither the creature or shadow can attack while this ability is active. The opposing creature can not use any special abilities. If shadow is destroyed or frozen etc, the opposing creature is freed.
0: release shadow and target creature

I think that allowing it to get +2/+0 whenever it takes damage, and +0/+2 whenever it deals damage would be a much better idea, and would help balance it out. Also, I don't really think of a Shadow when I think of an ability like that...it sorta makes me think of a Masochist. >.<"

The concept is based more on the "faceless one" or arakune depending on which japanese movies/games you've seen.  Its a creature that consumes to grow, and if hit splits into more parts allowing it to consume faster.  Even so I don't want to give it a duplication ability.  I've been thinking about cards that would use one but it seems to fit entrophy or death more.

you are forgetting when comparing this to golem and spirits that the card's ability has no cost, and can be used whenever you want, sure putting a mark in will lead to at least one of the creatures growing every turn, but more will cause too much draining, while this can be played in mono, also, will get better every turn, but thinking that the opponent is not a dumb AI, he will just wait for an oty or not attack it unless it will die, only real fix i see to this is to give it an active 0 cost ability called "sacrifice" where it gives itself one damage and would then get +2/+0 for his passive.
I ask nothing of humanity but fairness in all things, but I do not expect even that.

Maybe, I kinda like how this would combine with infection though.  You could build up the shadow for a few turns, then infect it, thereby preventing it from gaining defense, but giving it offense every turn.
