It actually seems underpowered at first glance, because it costs a lot for little effect. Shield uses 1
to reduce damage by 1. This uses 10
1
to reduce damage by 1. With buffs it becomes significantly greater, and blessing has a natural synergy, but I still wonder how useful this is in practice, because it doesn't block from a single source, like Hope. Hope doesn't block ONLY 23 damage. It blocks maximum 23^2, 529, if each creature has 23 attack and the board is filled. This blocks maximum 8x6, 48 damage total. And it does that for a very high cost, and with a lot of buffs. Theoretically, you can only reach the amount of reduction that you can buff the spirit, which requires a looot of buff cards. Blessing for example only offers 18 max, plus the 1 it already has, for 24 reduction. That seems like a lot, but requires an insanely good draw and well built deck, and only deducts the equivalent of, say, 3 unupped shriekers. Hope, with 8 RoL, protects from infinite shriekers. It does protect from SoW and Psion decks, unlike most DR shields, which is nice.
Here are my suggestions: Reduce cost to 9|8
, up the health cap to 10, and clarify the card info to "
Pacify: Spirit's attack is reduced to 0, becomes immaterial, and damage taken by the player is reduced by HP(Max 10)."
Another thing that might be cool is giving it 1 or 2 attack when immaterial? Just a thought.
Also, Basilisk Blood + Christmas Spirit is actually really interesting, because its an instant 10 DR, but takes 6 turns to go into effect.
