It looks like a crystal shard. It seems to be useless, but it might be upgradable.
NAME:
Shard of Endurance
ELEMENT:
Other
COST:
5
TYPE:
Spell
ATK|HP:
-
ABILITY:
Target creature's ability increases in cost and can be used multiple times per turn
ART:
Shard art on the competition thread, unupped is just Shard of Gratitude unupped
IDEA:
RedWarrior0
NOTES:
Part of the Shard Madness competition.
The ability works like this:
First, if it costs 0, the ability returns to default. This includes mutants that have been SoR'd
Second, the ability cost is increased by 1 and then doubled
Third, if the ability is "Dive", then the cost increases by 2N, where N is the creature's current attack.
In other words, the fairly powerful ability of an Otyugh now costs 5, but for the relatively hefty boost in price, it can chomp all it wants in a turn. A FFQ can now spawn all the fireflies it wants for 6:life

The "unlimited uses per turn" is removed by Shard of Readiness.
SERIES:
None

How does this work with dive? I you can double a creatures attack power multiple times a turn this could be painfully OP in a Pegasus + blessing deck

example: a 6/5 Pegasus is hit with this shard, and now has dive for 4 :air that can trigger multiple times per turn.

for 4 :air the Pegasus does 12 damage
for 8 :air the Pegasus does 24 damage
for 12 :air the Pegasus does 48 damage
for 16 :air the Pegasus does 96 damage

Basically with 24 :air , this card, a blessing and a no-upgraded Pegasus you could OTK a FG

There needs to be some sort of exception with dive.

True. I'll tweak it a little.

I'd say multiple uses of Dive should each add the normal attack value of the monster.

this, plus shard of readiness on any attack increasing ability (growth, ablaze, dive) would one shot kill anybody

pegasus only needs  :air originally, so with this they only need 2, not 4, which makes it worse

Every combo I can think of so far feels balanced. I've spent about 25 minutes just now going through all the combos I could think of that might be overpowered, and they all work better going a different route (usually be just having 6 of them or using fractal). Poison is way too expensive compared to having 6 Chrysaoras and improved poisons, growth costs a lot compared to growing multiple creatuers/playing more cards, etc. etc.

Very nice card, +karma

SoR cancels this effect. And this cancels SoR.

Dive on a Pegasus would cost 4 :air , not 2 :air

The formula is (cost + 1)x2=(new cost)

thus (1+1)x2=4

*edit* well, it was, it's been changed now so dive is a special case that costs a lot more than others.

I should make it clear that N for the cost of Dive is adjusted immediately after Dive is used.

Thanks. I thought of the card when I saw Rustler/Leaf Dragon's ability but knew there was no way it would be fair without increasing the ability cost. It should be like any ideal card, viable, but not always the best option.

With SoR, I realized this could easily be a Shard, and a few days ago I put together a cohesive thought, and then saw the contest and figured, "Why the hell not?"

The only major problems were "Alacrity" not being on the list and "Industriousness" losing the last 's' in planplan's generator.

CURATOR COMMENT
To get this card approved for the competition:
-Add the ability description for the unupped shard table

As others have stated above, I can't seem to find any combo where this card can truly be exploited to its fullest (like Shard of Readiness) - very nice balancing mechanic indeed.

Thanks.

If you think it's OP/UP, comment. Particularly the latter; I want it to be powerful, but not perfect for every situation.
