Round the Third: Erratic Orb | Erratic Orb https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=62212.msg1236561#msg1236561

NOTES:
TL;DR:
- Smashing refers to the destruction of the card regardless of method!
- Smashing is a passive!
- You have a 35% chance to drop the orb when you activate the stuff!
- Use on your things to make them bigger!
- Use on your opponent's things to make them juicier to antimatter!
- Use with thunderbolt for shenanigans! Use with plate armour for shenanigans!

"I worry about Silver, Claur. Given a couple centuries of eugenics and being raised from birth to be an emotionless killing machine definitely took its toll, and now they expect him to function like a normal individual after being told his entire life he's worthless! This is why I hate the twelve gods; Silver is stronger than all of us. His scales deflect anything we could possibly throw at him, and yet, he isn't a few miliseconds fast enough in his steps, so he's clearly completely useless! What backwards logic is that!? This is why he is so quiet and antisocial; he has nothing to say, and no purpose to do other than his job. Can you stop treating him like he's a normal being?

*Sigh.*

Just like this orb, there's a breaking point 'ere. See those violent wisps, trying to release themselves? If we don't find some way to give our friend emotional support, Claur, then he's going to burst. And that's going to be bad only for you, me, and the humans you're pawning."

-Reenactment of "Third Journey into the other realms", chapter 4ii

Erratic Orb is a card that tries to examine the properties of a board-wipe in aggressive decks. Its cheap cost allows it to be played quickly, and then allows you to energise all your creatures - or yourself. Electric shocks give you energy, after all!
But these are some pretty big shocks. The orb can't withstand it forever, and thus gets cracked. Some shocks may even be so big that they crack the orb on the first or second use, and it'll be interesting to see how aggro decks play around this.

And when the orb cracks, it sends its out of control energy everywhere, damaging everything. Stall decks could use this to turn thier spot-CC into mass CC if needed, although this is neutered by being in the same element as pandemonium.

Put shortly, use the power of the orb to power your creatures, but if it breaks, hell'll break loose.

NOTES:
TL;DR:
-Use the unupped to get the combo going faster
-Use the upped to screw with your opponent
-The draw triggers regardless of where you put your card in the unupped
-You can mess with your opponent regardless of where you put your card in the upped
-Your opponent does not know what card you look at or where it goes in the upped
-It's in :time because it scrys the future
-It's called something generic because I want to make it sound like a card that could actually be in the game

For aeons, sages have used candles to divine the future; A candle's size, intensity, flickering and radiance are all methods of determining what the false gods have in mind for you. Whilst other forms of divination have been used - wheels, feet, dead chickens... Lampadomancy has the unique feature of being able to not only discover fate, but change it; with just the tiniest flame, you can burn away the most scripted of futures. For those wishing to truly burn away their fate, more... Unstable candles are used.

Here, we have a card designed to smooth out your deck, with different riders based on the card.

The unupped is a stable flame, which can see the future two turns in. Whilst it only draws a card, it digs through two cards of your nearly-20-card deck, allowing you to get that combo-piece just a little bit faster. Candlelight puts you two turns closer to finding it for just 3 :time, making it a far more efficient option than precognition and hourglass. (Sundial op pls nerf.)

The upgraded is a more fuelled, angry flame, which is represented by you messing up with your opponent. Using candlesear, not only do you get rid of a card that you don't need at this current point in time, but you can either keep a bad card on top of your opponent's deck, or remove a good card from the top, essentially killing it. Candlesear can be used in domin decks, as well as a supplement to ghostmare and silence-based decks.

To address the elephant in the room: Why isn't this a :fire card? Simple. What is the result of this card? The future is being divined. How it's being divined is ultimately irrelevant, as the future, something only :time has power over, is being challenged. This, and that :fire should under no circumstances get card fixing - There are not many things fire can't deal with. Its arsenal of removal is huge, and to give it the ability to replenish it would be foolish.

Espi -

Any particular reason you are not following the event-organizer prescribed format for your posts? That is, why do you have two posts separating past submissions and current submission when rules direct us contestants to simply 'spoiler' past round submissions at the time we create/add the next or current round's submission?

:)

I'll wait to ask questions until you get a chance to flesh-out the "NOTES" sections. :D

Because I hate really large posts that that need to be edited constantly. BBcode looks like a mess in the post editor and the less of it there is in one post, the better. If I can just copy/paste the current task into the spoiler in the other post, that gives me less concern about

That and I didn't know the rule existed.

For the record, that's the same reason I cut off the Name/Cost/Element/Atk|Hp/Effect bars underneath the card art. 99% of the time, it serves no purpose and wastes space; If I could've discarded it when I was a curator, I would've.
