The image I was given was of a dragonfly. Unfortunately there is already a card by the name of dragonfly- so I had to use my imagination in designing this card  :P. The name Draco Volo is the Latin for 'Dragon Fly' (literally dragon fly not dragonfly) so I felt it would only be fitting for my card to have an effect which could cause creatures to become a dragon (as in gaining it's wings). Originally I was going to make this card a creature with 1 l 1 but I felt that then it would be too similar to the current dragonfly card and could cause fractal abuse, so I made it a spell instead. Because of the cards morphing effect I was stuck in my decision about whether this card should be entropy or air- but in the end I decided upon air.

The mechanics of the card were quite difficult to balance with the cost. To justify the doubling in cost I felt that the card needed to have the possibility of a negative effect in the unupped version. I chose to make it so there is a chance that the creature you use the spell on may die if this card is used upon it. The chances of this happening however I will keep at just 60%. The dragon which the card will turn into will be of the same element as the creature it is used upon. Upped cards will turn into upped dragons. I see this card having synergy with low-cost creatures from all elements-especially photons and of course dragonflies. In the case of photons- it will cost 7 quanta + 2 cards to get a dragon. In most cases it will be 6 quanta and 2 cards. This can also, in extreme cases, be used as a form of CC, lowering hp of large creatures for otyugh to devour or maxwells demons to paradox, but this is a very ineffective slow form of cc. The effect of the card takes place at the end of the turn. The creature must die from the effect of this card for it to turn into a dragon!!!

The image I was given was of neurons. To the best of my understanding these are cells which use electrical impulses to transmit data around your body to generate a response- and in effect controlling you. From this image I decided a card which let you control other peoples creatures would be the most logical choice. I chose the mark of aether over entropy because of the similarity in effect to the mind flayers and the electricity which is similar to lightning.

The effects of the card take place during your turn. You will be able to use the opponents creatures ability and it will attack the opponents HP, but at the end of your turn it will return to the opponent so it will not act as a disabling move. You will NOT be able to immolate the creature however as it is still your opponents creature. I have the quanta cost for the unupped version as only 3 quanta because I feel that it is weaker than antimatter. The upped version is so expensive because of how powerful I think it will be. If you wait until the enemy creatures are powerful enough then it would be a truly devastating attack and in conjunction with phase shields it would make a very powerful deck, hence consuming all remaining aether quanta. The aether quanta however is consumed at the end of your turn so aether typed abilities will still be usable. Quintessenced creatures will be unaffected.

So a spark + this = a phase dragon ? I don't have the skills of OldTrees regarding the costs but I believe that 5 :air + 1 card < 13 :aether

also in that one case no- spark dies before it loses the 1hp from the effect so it won't become dragon- if you put momentum on it, then used this card it would become a dragon. Photon on the other hand would be as you described but with 2 cards
Did you ever try to aflatoxin a spark?

i haven't but luckily this card isn't antimatter....they don't work in exactly the same way.
