If an unupped mark matches your mark, it will stack, allowing you to use this to protect pillars from an Earthquake-spamming opponent. This also acts as a soft PC spell that remove key permanents like Shields or Hourglasses, or convert redundant/expiring permanents like Phase Shield or Sundial to sources of quanta. SERIES:

I am unlikely to pay more quanta to protect fewer pillars. (Comparing using this on my pillars vs using Protect Artifact)
I would prefer destroying their permanent without giving them a mark, but this is not far off. (Comparing using this vs using Deflag)

PS: This is hard PC with a drawback, not soft PC in my opinion because there is no way to reverse or outlast the effect.

It's offensive use is very close to Deflagration. Maybe even close enough to have the same cost.

If it's that close, does redundancy become a problem?

Converting the whole stack might wreck pendulum-dependent decks, but I was considering a version that would convert the first three permanents in a stack if a stack was targeted. (Possible Bonewall quanta acceleration?)
