Okay, I've got a bunch of different backgrounds etc to bounce off people

Let me know which (if any) of these look decent, or any edits you'd like to see.

I think if I keep the mist I need to add more mist to the foreground to give it depth . . . not sure what else to try.

The mist is too light for a darkness card, imo.

Vrt, the image thing I made used Clouds and Zoom Blur. So there 
But I'll have a mess around and then when I give up I'll look through some more tutorials.

Rat I like the new ones- 3 is my favourite. Like I said before, the mask thing was what I was thinking of originally.

Mist too light as in too lightly colored or there isn't enough mist there? I'm assuming you mean you want darker colored mist . . . I'll see what I can do, but I can only go a little darker before it starts blending in with the background

*edit* Updated image. I added more foreground mist, darkened the mist, and added a little more detail to the creature.
