I liked lightnings... this looks ok, but needs little more details i think.

Also, rat what program do you work in?
I suggest you check up few tutorials, they helped me a bunch!
Most of them i found on deviant art.

Digging the mood, Krava. Try and flesh out the depth a bit more though, perhaps?
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Mystic swirls and crazy shizz add mysteriousosity and magicalification to any picture, so it's all spookilified and stuff. So you could try just some crazy jags and lines or w/e in the background Rat

At this point I'm using GIMP mostly, occasionally jumping over to pixlr (or sometimes even paint XD)

I'm a microbiology grad student, so I haven't had to much time to mess with it. Most of what I have done has been either coloring in some of my sketches (see "sketches" thread, this section) or working on images for a few of my cards . . .

I welcome any feedback on my work, and I'll go ahead and try to find a GIMP tutorial, but it'll probably take me awhile to get through it.

Yeah, I haven't worked on the background at all yet . . .

*edit* Quick question for someone who knows what they're doing with image editing. Is there an easy way to make the background transparent? I always end up having to do that by hand, and it takes forever and looks terrible (I end up with speckles etc)

Thinking a background like that would be kinda cool for the actual image. I could maybe change it to black and white or something else Dark-like. Whaddaya reckon?

Or this? It's more monochrome so darkness fits better

You want to use an image that everyone makes when they first read a photoshop tutorial? Ah well, be my guest. :x

I hate you -.-

I meant as a background for an actual good image. And I can't make anything better atm- I was just scrolling through tutorials for Paint.Net and thought it looked cool. What would you suggest instead?

I can give you one for Paint.Net if you want. It's a free image editing program

I'd paint in a cloud or mist effect for a background.

A good rule of thumb is that if you're using filters that aren't blur/sharpen, it'll probably do your image more harm than good.
