Best Art Tablet? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=23014.msg291789#msg291789

hope this is correct section.

With the whole copyright stuff for card art etc I've found myself doing art more and more. Can be quite annoying when you just want to get your idea out there, but also quite enjoyable at times :)
Anyway, I've done all my art so far with the mouse, and thought I should perhaps invest in an art tablet thingy. Does anyone have any suggestions? Price isn't too crucial, but it'd just be a hobby thing and nowhere near pro or ever wanting to go that far, so not like the most mega one ever kinda thing!

However, we can also use this thread to write down what people think are the best (most mega!) ones out there and a general discussion on art tablets (as well as giving me a pointer/feel for the one I would want to end up buying)

ANything by Wacom that isn't a Bamboo. Graphire or a (used) Intuos3 is probably your best bet if you don't want to spend too much. As for the used: Don't worry. Look at pepokish' tablet: It's been dropped, had coffee spilled all over it, the dog chewed on the pen and the cords and it still works wonderfully well. Just remember to replace the little white tip once every 1-2 year(s).
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Thanks vrt, will look into it, any suggestions on size? I've never used one so unsure of what I'd 'need'. Obviously the bigger the nicer it is for drawing stuff, sure, but is there like a minimum size you'd suggest?

Wacom, intuos4, medium size is probs the best choice.
500-400$ maybe on offer for 350, not sure, i bought mine 3 years ago, so most probs cheaper.

advice: buy a transparent sheet a4 size (its like a plast paper, get it from a art shop) you use that to put it ontop of your tablet, so then you dont scratch the surface with the tip of the pen.

best of wishes.  :)

cheers, sounds like a good tip!
they're not cheap, that's for sure, but probs worth it. The really annoying thing is that my gf had one (before I was with her) but can't find it anywhere, d'oh!
