My attempt at making upgraded card templates

First, we should thank SG and her epic Photoshop skillz that gave us the ULTIMATE card templates. But sadly, she did not include templates for upgraded cards. Now, I've worked on this for about half an hour, maybe a bit more, and this was my result.

EDIT: After about an hour of tweaking and banging my head on my desk, I've made a gradient overlay that can make the template upgraded. Just put the gradient on top of the card, but make sure its coordinates are (3,3).

It's really great.. did you realize the upgraded templates for ALL elements? Including "Other"? If so, i want them

I only did the upgraded template for Time. I could try to do a template on all the elements, but that will be a pain in the *** and take me a while to do. And I don't have Photoshop; I only use Fireworks, so I can only save it as a PNG file.

And BTW, SG's templates did not include the colorless card template, so I couldn't make that...

Anyone still want?

I actually planned to do this someday. When? Not a clue. But if you do, i believe fireworks can work in layers too, right? well instead of drawing the highlights straight on the card, draw it on a layer above it and then you can just transfer that layer to each of the card backings. That way you only have to make the upgraded highlights once.

It's much more complicated than just the white gradient highlight. I had to crop off the card border, the picture frame, and the description box. Some things on the card are not affected by the white highlight.

But I guess I could crop the highlight layer a bit, so I won't have to do the cropping for every single card.

Yes, Fireworks can work in layers. However, I don't know that if a PNG is opened with Photoshop, can the layers still be seen? I think I've tried it once with an older version of PS/FW, but PS said something like "this file contains additional information for Fireworks that will be lost upon save".

So, for those with Photoshop, save the image I posted first and see if you can open it and see the layers. If not, then I'll just make twelve blank card templates with nothing on them.

Well a .png won't save layers or anything. it's just an image. But if you want to go through will all the work i'll be glad to supply you with the materials since i do have photoshop. I can just give you a .png of each of the card templates and element icons.

Ah, well, with photoshop, i've never seen layer in a .png the .png's i've had maybe just didn't have layers or photoshop just can't view them, i really have no clue about that.

There's an easier way of doing this with Photoshop layers that doesn't require you to do each individual element.

False. Have you ever tried Adobe Fireworks?

Oh, wait. I think "layer" is not the correct term. The correct term might be "object". Fireworks allows you to edit images as objects, because it is mainly used to edit vector graphics. In my personal opinion, I think Photoshop's layer system is incredibly clumsy compared to Firework's object system.

I know there is an easier way to do this. I just have to make an overlay gradient that covers the right parts of the image (right now the gradient covers everything, so I have to crop out the parts that shouldn't be covered). Once I've done that, I'll just put them on top of every element, and it's done.
