Merged doesn't look good, but I have been thinking up something that would incorporate all the symbols onto one mark. It's a lot of elements to combine, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I used photoshop. Placed them all in a circle around the middle element, then added a bevel emboss on the surrounding ones in a direction that makes it look like light is radiating from the central element. Then I take 11 smaller icons of the middle element, make them small and warp them until they look like reflections. Then I copy the element symbol and enlarge it and incorporate it somehow around the entire thing.
