I just wanted to say a late thank you for all of the responses to my question!  c:  I can't wait to get started, and from what I hear, we should have this thing up and running very soon!

Also, I wanted to reiterate that traditional media (pencil and paper) is absolutely fine by me!  I'm familiar with traditional art, so it's no problem for me.  Just make sure you get a nice clean scan or digital photo.  c:

Thanks again, guys!  <3

I'm interested. I could use some practice (especially with hands).
I usually use MSPaint- main problem I have with it is that it's so large o_o (and the new way they did the grid >.<)

Sorry for the late reply, Anon.  (:  Hopefully soon.  I'm not entirely clear on everything yet, but some answer is better than nothing...  From what I hear, vrt needs to get everything set up with the council, then we can begin.

I'm interested. The way i see it, no software is an impediment to learn color/shape theory, so i'll do what i can with the tools i have. I'm looking forward for this to begin :)
And if i can be of any help, i'm just a PM away.
So, tell me my friend, what can you see? What comes into your mind as you breathe?
'cause I see colors flourishing like you'd never believe... like a pendulum swings, they swing with me!

Well, once the council approves everything, we will be able to get started -- but you won't have to check this thread for that.  Don't worry, you'll definitely know when the class is ready.   ;)

Wonderful!  It's always nice to know that help is available if needed.  (:
By the way, I've been wanting to tell you... your avatar kicks ass.  :D

For the record: 'Talent' in art is a load of bullshit. With patience and dedication, you can learn the skills to do anything - it's like playing the guitar; anyone can learn to do it. 'Talent' is how easily you'll understand and apply it, not whether or not you'll be able to grasp it in the first place.
I agree with this guy. With dedication anyone can learn decent drawing skills.

Anyway I've been reading through the thread here, I'd love to be involved. Always happy to give artistic/creative advice.

Btw I notice a lot of people mention they have no access to a decent graphics program, here's a few browser based utilities you may want to check out:

Google Chrome Experiments:

Deviantart Muro - I've seen some people make some professional quality work with this tool.

Enjoy!

A list of free Photoshop alternatives will be compiled before classes start, don't worry.

Hawanja, I'd love to see you tag along.
So long and thanks for all the fish!
