I'd like to ask a simple question for those interested: why are you interested in attending this little art class?  This will greatly help me determine which areas to focus on specifically, when giving advice.
I want to improve several aspects of my art. From concept, color choice, technique and maybe learn some nice tricks ( like vrt told me about flip-fix). Also background :)

Maybe whole process, form idea, concept, sketch, all the way to the painting and finishing touches.

I was thinking to facilitate whole creative process in stages. Everybody will find some thing in some part of the process that will appeal tho him, and in this way it could be "mass" process i.e. everybody can tag along in one cycle.

I was thinking something like this ( although im not an expert so this is just for showcasing idea) :

stage1- idea, concept
stage2-composition, sketching
stage3-developing color scheme, techniques
stage4-painting, corrections
stage5-finishing touches, background?

Hey guys!

As Vrt has mentioned, I will be helping out a bit with the lessons.  Vrt and I sometimes clash when it comes to art, so I have no idea how this will work out, but we'll see.  (:

I'd like to ask a simple question for those interested: why are you interested in attending this little art class?  This will greatly help me determine which areas to focus on specifically, when giving advice.

You're back! (*mumbles something about being a cooler Master of Life*)

Anyway, my main reason for attending this art class isn't just to improve my art skills, but also to improve my visual depth-perception and other 'abilities' that artists seem to have. As they say, it's not about how well you can train your hand to draw art, but rather, how well you can train your eye to see what true art is. Here's an example of my (trashy) Falcon Lancer that I used pixlr to create:

I know that one day I want to be able to draw actual human beings (or at least good facial expressions ^^;; ), but for now, just knowing how shadows work and figuring out how to create a more 'realistic' piece is all I want to do. I used to be good at figuring out shadow angles, but now I'm just mediocre (if not abysmal) at this type of work.

P.S. - how do you and vrt clash about art exactly? :P

Just look at there individual pieces of art they look different e.g. compare leaf dragon and gargoyle/phoenix there style is completely different, or at least that's what it looks like to me.

That'd make it an art factory; this is supposed to be a class. ;q

miniwally is right; both pepokish and I have a different signature style. However, this isn't going to be much about style, style's what you develop on your own, not with guidance from others.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Pepo's art is "cuter", while vrt's art is "tougher."

Anyways, I'm attending this class because I want to discover my inner artistic talent. I've sucked at human art since kindergarten, but I may have the talent of drawing fantasy stuff hidden in there somewhere. I can make a mental image of a beautiful scene or something in my head, but I can't ever apply it on paper or on pixlr. :/

I'm interested mostly because I enjoy drawing really . . .

I'm a decent sketch artist (though nothing spectacular) but I've never really tried to push myself before. I first started wondering if I could produce game-worthy images recently.

To that end, I would like to start getting feedback & tips on my artwork

That being said, I should probably say in advance that I'll most likely miss a week or two, classes are starting again and I'm going to be out of the country for a week or two on top of that. If that's going to be a problem I'll understand if you don't want me taking up space in the class.

As I said to BloodShadow, once or twice with prior notice is fine. Just don't make it a habit, because I'm not going to waste my time on that. :)

I'm not really sure. Maybe I want to learn to draw some real art instead of the abstract vector stuff I did before.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

I definitely need inspiration to do art. When I do origami generally I am inspired because of romance or because I want to make a gift.

I have been getting into art because of all the ideas I have for cards. Elements is inspiring me to make art for the moment so that is where I am coming from. Though it definitely won't hurt to have some better art skills if I want to make something for work or other non elements endeavors...

vrt's sheer power of will has convinced me to attend this class.  I have very little experience in drawing, painting, or Photoshop, but I guess now is a fantastic time to learn.   :)

why are you interested in attending this little art class?
I want to have another talent outside of juggling or playing piano.  Plus, I will get to know other community members, which is always nice.

As for how I learn best, I like to focus on one problem at a time.  I can break this habit, though.   ;)

I also make videos and stuff.

Why? Gives me something creative to do. I have been doing the forum competitions, but have wanted to do this kind of thing for a while. My original plan was to go through a book on pencil drawing first, but since this is starting up...
