Minimalistic is always ftw.
Anyways, explanation:
Card art is smaller than the current design and right in the middle of the card. Although I did not want to take the focus of the fantastic art for all the cards in Elements, I thought it would be cool if there was more empty space in the card. It flows with the game's simple mechanics, so I tried experimenting with
not filling up every inch of the card with random effects/text.
Then, the name. It's big. There was a lot of space, so why not be more real-estate-liberal with the name? I mean, c'mon, it's the card's
name.
The first thing on the card, when looking from top-to-bottom, is the text. That's pretty much the most important part of the card, right? It usually tells you exactly what the card is about, and so it gets the 3rd most important position on the card. When I look at my cards, I first glance at the gigantic name, and then focus on the card text. Then, I remember the card mostly by the card art in the center.
Next, the card type, creature stats, and the card cost. You can tell that they're kind of just lying around the card art. You really don't need them to attract attention. To keep the quanta icons from standing out, I put them under the gradient/shading layer, so they seemed more like part of the card.
Note that things that cost Other quanta will have blank quanta icons (for example, luciferin would have white quanta icons without the light emblem in them). The cost text will say "2 random" or something like that.
