Agreed. There's a reason why Google Image Search exists in the first place. As long as you give credits, you're allowed to use card art from the internet. Additionally, this card art will almost certainly not be used as card art in the real game. These are called card ideas for a reason. They're just IDEAS.

Then what the heck are we supposed to do? Not everyone is a genius artist like you guys. Don't tell me to ask for art, it's too slow and unreliable. Should we just stop making ideas with images?
There's plenty of images released under Creative Commons or stock art policies. Use those.

Personally, I think you're taking a risk when you're posting your original art on the Internet. Anyone might find it and use it. I have made original art before, and I know the risk of plagiarism fully well when I posted it on the Internet.
No excuse at all. If I have money on the bank, I'm also aware the the bank could be robbed. I still want my money.

No, you're not. I just said this 4 times.

And you've been wrong, all 4 times. If all the ideas from the "Card Ideas" section automatically go straight into the game, then you'd be correct. As it stands, the Card Ideas section is here for discussion and the forging of a creative community, which is assisted by art from outside sources which we give CREDIT for. We're not using the cards for anything but discussion in and within the constraints of a SECTION in a FORUM.

Would you please stop equating art with money? If you lose money, you lose something that is real and substantial. If your art gets stolen, you only lose your ego.

And I hate to say this, but there are people in the world who don't give a **** about copyrights on the Internet. Don't get me wrong, I'm arguing with you here because I care enough about copyrights to do it.

And Icy does have an excellent point. None of the art is ever going to be used in the real game. It doesn't matter if we use outside art or not. For all I care I can simply make an idea with no image.

I steal your money, buy a new TV, add a tag with "money by icybraker". Perfectly fine, right?

I steal your couch, and sit on it with some friends. I don't sell it. Perfectly fine, right?

Nobody will bother to look at your idea if it has no images. It's all psychology.

And read my post about how loss of ego is not equivalent to loss of real world possessions.

Actually, he is right. That is theft. Just because people don't give a damn about this, it doesn't mean it's not theft..

My artwork is sold for real money, and I make more off of it than some people do off their dayjob. And I'm no big artist. If you're stealing art, you might as well take away the paycheck of some artists that, like me, earn money from their work.

It doesn't matter if we use outside art or not. For all I care I can simply make an idea with no image.
Well then do it, rather than spend your time over a lost battle.

Your metaphor has many holes in it. First of all, I don't have a couch, but that's not the point.

Second of all, as Bloodshadow elucidated, money is substantial. Feelings are not.

Third of all, my couch can only exist in one place at any one time. An image off the internet can be used by someone else, but you STILL HAVE IT.

Fourth of all, ideas and art go hand in hand. A play can be brilliantly written, amazingly witty, and beautifully dramatic, but if the audience only sees a curtain for the duration of the play, they WILL be bored. Sight stimulates thought.

Soo is it really that difficult to get permission from the artist that we have to have a argument?

Yes. For all you know it might take two weeks before the artist responds back.

vrt, does people on deviantART sell their art for money?

People sell art. This 'feelings' thing is bullshit, this is an income we're talking about.

Third of all, my couch can only exist in one place at any one time. An image off the internet can be used by someone else, but you STILL HAVE IT.
Yet the other person got it without payig for it. Obtaining something without paying, ring a bell?
