I am downloading spore now to try out and shall post some quick works soon.
If you are a real artist, I suggest you stay away from Spore. :)

Cool looking art. Might need some tweaking before it gets accepted to Elements though. It needs to be a bit less art and a bit more cartoon imo.

I suggest you try using GIMP for creating card images. It totally open source and have a huge range of tools and paint brushes to create whatever you could possibly think of.
