Shard of Wisdom text

This is either a bug or bad text, but the Shard of Wisdom can target monsters which cannot be targeted (i.e. phase dragon).

It's not a bug, that's how it has to work.
Shard of Wisdom (SoW) used to have the text somthing like "Target an immortal creature. It gets +4/+0 and now deals spell damage", but it was changed to target any creature in the 1.32 patch (iirc).

As I said, that means it has a text error. It does not specify that immortal creatures can be targeted (as they are usually untargetable).

You're right, but still, the cards don't have that much space to tell every detail.

The clause about target creature dealing spell damage if immaterial wouldn't make much sense if this couldn't target them, no?

The part that says "and now deals spell damage if immortal" could be interpreted to mean SoW allows targeting immortals. It could also be interpreted that a creature which has been targeted with SoW and then later targeted with Quintessence now deals spell damage. However, I think the former interpretation makes more sense and so could help you to understand that.

I suppose a better wording could be:

Target creature gains +4/+0 and deals spell damage if immortal.  This card may target immortal creatures.
