Antimatter used to cause a creature to heal vs. a fire shield

I had played a creature (a shrieker), and my opponent had used... antimatter, I think the card is? Anyway, the next turn, he played a fire shield. No matter how much my shrieker attacked him for -8 damage, he was not hurt by the shield as he should have been.

No he should not have been hurt. your creature is no longer attacking. Your creature is healing which bypasses all shields, except phase shield I believe.

Oh, okay. The card descriptions were just worded oddly.

Antimatter:
Invert the attack power of the target creature (the creature inflicts heal instead of damage).

Fire Shield:
Shield: 1 damage is dealt to any attacking creature.

I actually think this is a bug of sorts, because the creature, contrary to popular belief, still attacks every turn. The creature is blocked by Phase Shield, but is not blocked by Bone Wall and isn't affected by Fire Shield or Procrastination, so there are some serious inconsistencies.

That is true. but I just think that the Phase Shield effects need to be alter to allow the healing creature to be able to heal you. I still don't see the creature as attacking as I see attacking meaning to hurt the other person.

In the practical sense, the creature still has to reach you and make contact as if it is attacking you, so shield effects should either all take effect or no shield effects should work against creatures affected by antimatter.

Also sundials stop antimattered creatures from healing you, while feral bond healing works normally. According to description sundials should only stop attacking creatures.

I think antimattered 'healing' should be considered a normal attack and affected by all shields, except the damage reduction

Again, Sundial prevents all attacks, period. There are no exceptions, so a creature with negative attack power doesn't get to inflict healing damage from an attack. This is just another reason I think all shields should affect both positive damage and negative damage attacks.
