So, what's the point? For me this seems random enough ;-p

Actually it was 32 cards then, not that it makes much of a difference.

And just had the opposite. In a deck of only 30 cards with 6 rutlers the first rutler was drawn with the 17th card!

I have reduced the number of Jade Dragons from 3 to 2 because I cannot use them before the ~7-10th hand anyway :) The risk of getting two in the first hand is just too high otherwise.

I just noticed that the RNG likes to group the same cards together, which is most noticeable in the starting hand. I get 2 (out of 3) Jade Dragons in the starting hand quite often in the same deck of 30 cards. Certainly more often than the odds might suggest. Maybe someone can calculate them. It's just a small sample size so probably not relevant, but definitely noticeable so far.

I probably noticed it more often than it actually happened because 2 Jade Dragons in the first hand are especially useless. I had the impression that it happens every 4th game or so, but every 7th game sounds about right then.

That the odds are so high to get 2 Jade Dragons in the first hand suprises me actually.

The RNG seems to be flawed. In a recent match I had 5 (out of 6) Rutlers on the starting hand, and 2 (out of 5) Lava Golems. The next 2 cards were also Lava Golems! Thats with a deck of only 30 cards.

The shuffle algorithm is not working correctly. Still get two Dragons in the first hand, and had three games in a row where I didn't get a Rutler (out of 6) or a Quantum Pillar (out of 4) in the first hand in a deck of 30 cards. Also had 3 (out of 3) Firebolts in the first hand twice. In two other matches both opponents had 5 (probably out of 6) Lava Golems in the first ~15 hands.

It certainly likes to group similar cards together.

And just had a match where the opponent had 14 pillars in the first 15 cards.

I can't remember where, but I read that no randon number generator is TRULY random. The only way that you can get TRULY random numbers is to measure things like radioactive decay, and quantify and use that. That might be why, it might not be why.

Personally, I think the computer rigs the draws. ;)

If you have 3 Jade Dragons in a 30-card deck, you will get two of them in the starting hand over 15% of the times, in other words about once every 7th game.

It is very hard for most people to "feel" what is random and what is not. It might feel that you get a certain kind of starting hand way to often (or seldom). But if you actually take notes (don't trust your memory!) of how often it ACTUALLY happens, it turns out it doesn't happen as often as you think. And if you also calculate the odds, it turns out that real life mathces the calculations fairly often :-)

It's true that you won't get TRULY random numbers from a computer - unless special hardware is used - but even the most mediocre RNGs (random number generator) are good enough for something like this game. If there is any bias on the card drawing it's either a bad shuffle-algorithm, or the game is rigged. It's not the RNG.
