Could any of you tell me an example when the reflective shield actually works?
So far it seems to me pretty useless (poison would have been the only reason to wield it)

I have just been poisoned (Poison card) by the computer AI in level 3, despite having my Reflective shield active. Isn't this shield supposed to cause the opponent to become poisoned instead?  ???

That might be design.

Although, you are right, the Poison/Deadly Poison is a Spell, and it's hitting YOU. So it theoretically should...

Yup, I've had it hit me for 10 each turn with a dial up and just one Eagle's Eye. I guess I could video it the next time I see it.
That wasn't EE. What you describe is the typical damage of Fire Queen's flying Fahrenheit. Those damages go through Sundials.

That includes Ice Bolt, Ice Lance, Fire Bolt, Fire Lance, Holy Light, and Holy Flash.
+ Lightning/Thunderbolt
+ Drain Life/Siphon Life

As jmizzle said, any spell (one time usage card) that targets you. That includes Ice Bolt, Ice Lance, Fire Bolt, Fire Lance, Holy Light, and Holy Flash.

IOW, the reflective shield isn't that great.

I found another point behind this reasoning for reflective shield not stopping poison:

The term "spell". No "ability" mentioned there on the Reflective Shield card.

So it shouldn't help with abilities that target players such as an Eagle's Eye weapon. For this reason, it shouldn't stop Chrysaora/Physalia's poison ability either.

The computer AI for Fire Queen constantly hits me directly with the card. Bug, yes, because Eagle's Eye is only supposed to target creatures.

But that was just an example.

That might be by design.

The poison ability and card states: "Inflict [N] poison damage at the end of every turn. Poison damage is cumulative.", where N is anywhere from 1 to 3.

It is not worded like the damage cards: "Deals [N] damage to the target...".

The keyword there is "target". The Reflective Shield states: "Any spell that hits you is reflected...".

Since poison isn't targeted at you or hitting you, it applies to different rules. It just does poison damage.

Nothing in the way its worded states that it is targeting or hitting another player. It just states that it "inflicts" poison damage.

Infect, on the other hand, targets a creature.
