Cannot target opponent's permanents during game with either steal or explosion

When playing this morning, I found in two consecutive games that I was unable to target an opponent's permanent in the Arena.  No sundials were active, no Silence, etc.  Screenshot available but cannot figure out how to post it with a kid tugging on my shirt.

What permanent was it and did it have a small time mark in the picture?

I'm not a total newbie to the game, so I understand protected permanents, etc. I wasn't targeting Hope.  What made me think bug was that mousing over any of my opponent's cards failed to produce an expanded image, while my cards continued to do so.  I specifically tried with both steal AND explosion to see if there was an issue with one or the other.  I even tried a second time, thinking a one-time Java error.

So you're thinking it's a graphical bug?

That would make sense if I had seen more Protect Artifact cards played, but I never saw them pop up.  I can't imagine why the graphic for it would pop up without a problem on Hope but not on the other stacks.  What I'm thinking is that there was some sort of an error that made the entire "permanent area" of my opponent's side of the field untouchable, which would explain why it wasn't reading a mouse-over, either.  I just had time to play a couple more games, and there was no sign of the error this time.

Well I'm not sure what to say, I didn't run into that problem while testing it.

Hopefully it was a one time error because of a bad flash load or something.  Who knows?  If I encounter it again I'll post.
