Black Hole not reflected https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=3651.msg33516#msg33516

Black Hole pulls mana from me regardless of whether I have reflecting sheilds up - reflective shield or emerald shield or their upgrades. Since Black Hole is a spell regardless of whether it affects my hit points, the reflecting sheilds should reflect it, thereby reversing it and healing the intended recipient and draining the castor.

I can see how that would be a design choice.  He's not particularly casting something at you, more than drawing your mana to him...

However, even though many of the cards are set up to make sense in ways like that, I prefer cards that do what they say, regardless if it's a bit funny.  That's half the entertainment.

unfortunately the working on the reflecting shields is rather vague. they only reflect spells that do non-poison damage to you. i.e. fire/ice bolts, drain life, and unstable gas.

Reflective Shield's wording does state that it reflects damage from spells, not spells themselves, at least currently.

Emerald Shield just says that spells are reflected. My guess is that this wording is used simply because there's no room left on the card for more text. My opinion is that this is a bad design choice, and a full description of the card's effect should be available in the game somehow.

In both cases, the upgraded card says the same thing as the basic card.

The wording on Reflective/Mirror Shield is "Any damage from spells is reflected." The wording on Emerald/Jade Shield is "Spells are reflected against your opponent." These two shields are supposed to have the same wording, which is the wording on Mirror Shield. Zanzarino changed the wording to specify that the shields only reflect direct damage from spells and abilities. Black Hole does not deal damage, so it is not reflected.
