Shields that inherently destroy themselves can still be destroyed by an outside mutator (like Pulverizer) when under the effect of Protect Artifact.

When the Malignant Cell that was created by the death of creature that was poisoned by Alfatoxin is killed, it generates another Malignant Cell in that creature slot.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here. Are you saying a protected dim-shield/dis-shield/bonewall can be pulverised/deflaged/stolen?
By players? By the AI? Both?

Yes, you can pulverize the above shields when protected. Not sure if the AI can, and it's never been done to me, but I've done it before in PvP.

I've not been able to recreate this. Does this happen every time for you?

That happens for me.  Here's why.... I think.

Look at Zanz's coding, when the poisoned creature dies, it BECOMES a malignant cell.  Meaning if you kill the malignant cell it becomes, it's still the target creature, and it too becomes a cell.  This bug only works on the first turn a malignant cell appears, for the first cell.
